Summary
There are three stages to our skin cancer screening process. If you haven’t seen a skin specialist in the past and are a low-moderate risk, we recommend coming in for an initial skin check first where our skin specialist doctors will check any areas of concern that you may have.
Our full body Mole Mapping screening is recommended to those who are at a higher risk of melanoma have a lot of moles or have any family history of melanoma. Check to see are at a higher risk of which involves a full body computerised scan.
Your initial skin cancer screening appointment
If this is your first visit to one of our Skin Cancer Clinics, we start by asking you fill out a questionnaire that will help us understand a bit about you. We will run through the Skin Cancer screening process with you and answer any questions you may have. Initial screening is a manual, non-invasive examination conducted by one of our trained skin specialist doctors to check any areas of concern. High resolution images are taken of anything that needs monitoring or treatment.

If you are considered a lower risk and have no family history or not a lot of moles, then we would recommend a skin check first. We keep track and monitor anything of concern, so you get peace of mind. See more info about skin cancer and the risks here.
No, skin checks are 100% painless.
You will not be required to remove any clothing unless the area of concern is covered. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing to your appointment.
Evaluation and Further Diagnosis
Depending on your skin type, condition, and history you may be recommended a Total Body Skin Cancer monitoring procedure. This is a full body computerised scan that can be used to reference and measure any changes over time and is a great tool in the Skin Cancer Management Process. There is a small (Gap) fee of $88.60 out of pocket for this service. If no further attention is required, that is the end of the Skin Cancer Screening process. A follow up appointment can be made for 6 or 12-months’ time.
Should there be an area that needs further investigation the images will be reviewed by the Doctor and a treatment plan will be discussed.

Images will be reviewed by the doctor and if there are any further investigations required you will be booked in for a follow up. If not, we recommend getting checked every 6-12 months.
